This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our dream journaling web app ("Service").   • AI Analysis Data: Your dream journal entries may be processed through AI models, such as Google Gemini or OpenAI’s models, for dream analysis and interpretation. These models analyze your dream entries for recurring patterns or themes.

We do not automatically collect any data beyond the information explicitly provided by users. We do not collect sensitive or health-related data.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information for the following purposes:

  • Account Management: To create and manage your user account, including authentication and authorization.
  • Personalization: To personalize your experience on the platform and improve our Service based on your interactions.
  • Notifications: To send you notifications about your account, updates, or other important information related to the Service.
  • Analytics: To analyze and improve our Service, including analyzing dream data over time to help you with your dream analysis.
  • AI Dream Analysis: Your dream journal entries may be processed through Google’s Gemini API or OpenAI’s models for AI-based analysis and interpretation. This analysis provides insights based on the content of your entries and aims to assist you in understanding patterns and recurring themes in your dreams.

3. Data Storage and Retention

Your personal data and dream journal entries are stored in a MySQL database hosted on our VPS server. We retain your data for an indefinite period, as long as your account is active. We reserve the right to prune or delete inactive accounts or data as necessary for maintenance or operational purposes.

Your dream journal content may also be processed by Google's Gemini AI or OpenAI's models for analysis and insights as part of our AI Dream Analyst feature. The content may be temporarily stored on Google’s or OpenAI’s servers for the purpose of analysis, but we do not retain this data beyond the analysis process.

You have the right to delete your journal content directly within the app. If you would like to request deletion of your entire user account and all associated data, please contact us at support@somninaut.com.

4. Security Measures

We take the security of your personal data seriously and use industry-standard security measures to protect it. This includes:

  • Encryption: Passwords are never stored in plain text; they are encrypted using secure hashing algorithms.
  • Secure Connections: All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted via SSL (Secure Sockets Layer).
  • Data Minimization: We only collect and retain data that is necessary for the operation of our Service, and we ensure that third-party services, such as AI models, do not retain user data beyond the analysis process.

Despite these measures, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection against data breaches. If a breach occurs, we will notify affected users in accordance with applicable laws.

5. User Rights and Control

As a user, you have the following rights over your personal data:

  • Access: You can access your account information and dream journal content at any time through the app.
  • Correction: You can update or correct your account information within the app.
  • Deletion: You can delete your dream journal content through the app. To request deletion of your entire user account and associated data, please email support@somninaut.com.

For users based in regions with data protection laws (e.g., the GDPR or CCPA), you also have the right to request data deletion or exercise other rights as outlined by those laws.

6. Children’s Privacy

Our Service is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will take steps to delete such information.
